A documentary focused on people with disabilities experiencing the largest metal festival in France: Hellfest Open Air Festival.
The idea for this documentary stemmed from our other professional experiences in the field of disability. Access to culture for people with disabilities is a government priority. However, effective access is rarely questioned, and despite the growing popularity of metal music festivals, access is still perceived as difficult. After meeting with the coordinator and residents of the L'Orangerie home, managed by the French Red Cross, the residents expressed their desire to visit Hellfest Open Air.
This first form of experimentation was accompanied by an anthropological documentary, combining interviews and fieldwork, highlighting the work of support staff and the residents' own perspectives. This documentary sheds light on the project's significance, the involvement of various stakeholders, and the experience of Hellfest, along with the many insights that can be drawn from it. It leads to observing and reflecting on what contributes to the care of attendees at metal gatherings, from organizers, festival-goers, and social workers.
